About The Animals
The Animals is a play featuring three actors who are going to co-present the character Yank from the Eugene O'Neill's play The Hairy Ape. Yank is a poorly educated, simple-minded laborer working on a large cruise ship. His rigid, day-to-day life on the ship makes him overconfident and he is never aware of his inferiority. However, when a tourist named Miss Mildred humiliates him and crushes his self-esteem, he seeks an opportunity for revenge. Despite several failed attempts, Yank walks into a zoo, has a heartfelt conversation with a gorilla, and is eventually strangled to death by the gorilla in its cage.
