The Zhaoming Academy was named after Xiao Tong, Crown Prince Zhaoming of the Southern Dynasties, who studied in Wuzhen. The Academy sits on the north facing the south; the second floor of the “half corridor” has a roof in the “hard mountain” style,” covering an ancient building complex. It has the largest library in an ancient town in China. The front hall features a statue of Prince Zhaoming and introduces the significant cultural figures of Wuzhen. The main entrance is the stone archway of the Sixth Dynasty in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. As a newly opened performance space of the 7th Wuzhen Theatre Festival, Zhaoming Academy will be the venue for the specially invited play Paperwork.
